The early years of parenting can bring joy, change and new challenges and having the right support around you can make all the difference.
Our Community Options Parent Engagement (COPE) program offers a collection of free, community-based groups designed to strengthen family wellbeing through connection, learning and play.
Each program is welcoming, judgment-free and supported by experienced Novita staff who understand the realities of family life. Whether you’re looking to meet other parents, build your confidence, learn new skills or spend meaningful time with your child, COPE offers a space where every family can feel included and supported.
All COPE programs are free and are fully funded by the Department of Social Services.
Parenting can feel overwhelming, especially for dads and male role models who are still finding their feet. This weekly group gives dads, step-dads, uncles, brothers and mentors a place to connect, build confidence and enjoy hands-on activities with their kids. It’s a supportive environment where men can talk openly, make friends and feel part of a community that truly understands the highs and challenges of fatherhood.
Play is one of the most powerful ways young children learn. Our Mobile Toy Library brings high-quality toys, ideas and guided play sessions directly to your home. Families enjoy a fun 30-minute visit with a skilled family support worker and you get to keep the toys for two weeks before they’re swapped for new ones. It’s a playful, personalised way to support your child’s development and strengthen everyday routines.
Our supported playgroups welcome families with children aged 0 – 5 into a friendly, inclusive environment filled with creativity, exploration and fun. Held weekly in community centres, these playgroups help children learn through hands-on activities while parents and carers connect with others who “get it.” They offer a comfortable step into childcare or kindy and provide a strong sense of community for families in the early years.
These small, interactive workshops give parents and carers access to evidence-based programs and practical life skills. Topics include child development, behaviour and emotional regulation, mental health, nutrition, first aid, cyber safety, financial literacy, and more. Every workshop is shaped by community feedback, ensuring families get the information and tools that matter most to them.
