Explore, create and learn through play

Supported Playgroup

Novita’s supported playgroups bring families with children aged 0–5 years together in a fun, relaxed, and inclusive environment.

Run by experienced Novita staff

Each session is designed to help kids explore, create and learn through play. At the same time, parents and carers connect with others on the same journey.

Supportive stepping stone

Many families see our playgroups as a soft and supportive step into childcare or kindy, or simply as an inexpensive and enjoyable activity for adults and children alike.

All resources and materials are provided

Novita provide all the resources, along with gentle guidance and education from our team about learning through play. Best of all there is no cost to you!

Keeping kids curious, engaged and learning through play

Looking to connect with other young families and make new friends in your community?

Novita’s supported playgroups are a great way to do just that, while giving your little one the space to play, learn and grow.

We know that the early years bring big changes. Between new routines, commitments and caring responsibilities, finding meaningful connections can be tricky. Yet, those connections, with people who truly get it, are essential to family wellbeing.

That’s where Novita’s supported playgroups come in.

Connection starts with play

What happens in a session?

Each playgroup runs once a week for 1.5–2 hoursYou’ll find them each week at Bagster Road Community Centre, Salisbury North and Parafield Gardens Community Centre, Parafield Gardens

Together, families take part in a variety of hands-on and engaging activities, such as:

  • Arts and crafts
  • Sensory experiences like gloop, shaving cream, playdough and water play
  • Simple science experiments
  • Dress-up days
  • Puzzles and games
  • Outdoor fun such as climbing, sand play, bike riding and ball games
  • Group time with stories and songs

These activities aren’t just enjoyable during the session, they're also easy to replicate at home between sessions.

The long-term benefits

When your session ends, we want the benefits to continue long after you leave.
Families who take part in Novita’s supported playgroups often tell us they feel more confident, more connected, and more supported within their community.

During the program, Novita staff will also get to know your family and can help connect you to other services or programs that align with your goals.

Here are just some of the ways our playgroups make a lasting difference:

Building friendships with other families that often grow beyond the group

Strengthening your bond with your child through shared play

Supporting kids to develop language, communication and social skills

Encouraging problem-solving and decision-making in a fun environment

Helping families feel settled and supported in their local community

Getting involved is simple and free!
